[...] So here’s an example of how not to do it, in my opinion. I wrote two articles on the Berlin Philharmonic new Digital Concert Hall. The first one described how I got to sign up and how that experience of navigating their site was. Not that good. [...]

Thank you for informing me of the Digital Concert Hall. I too have been a fan of the Berlin Philharmonic since childhood and have been wanting to see and hear it once again. The fee is pretty low for such an exciting offering.

[...] I have already written about how excited I got when I discovered the facility on the Berlin Philharmonic’s website. I tried the trial snippet of music to check on our broadband connection speed. All seemed fine there. [...]

That sounds great but of course nothing beats the real thing. Hearing live sounds and seeing live performances on stage.

Quality of the transmission is superb, both sound and picture. And it's reasonably priced. As with all filmed concerts one is at the mercy of what the cameraman thinks one should see!

Beste Dre,

Of course nothing beats the real thing, like hearing a concert in one of the most wonderful concert halls of the world, the Concertgebouw. Even better when the hall is played by its own RCO, some would say the best orchestra in the world. Had the privilege to be 'subjected to' the Zubin Mehta experience last week. Wonderful combination that, Mehta and Stravinsky and the Concertgebouworkest! However, with my season ticket to the digital concert hall of the Berliner, which for the rest of this season costs less than a single ticket to the aforementioned concert in the Concertgebouw, I have already been able to listen to and watch, in great clarity of sound and picture, about 15 concerts by the Berliner Philharmoniker under great conductors such as the aforementioned Zubin Mehta and our own master Bernard Haitink (live last Saturday!), with many more to come. In my opinion, all this is more than worth the money, and I can't wait for our own RCO to set up the same or a similar service, something I believe all top tier orchestras, including those in the United States, should do in the not too distant future!

Dear Anja,

A nice article, thank you. But of course I now want to know how it was yesterday? I also wanted to see it but sitting in a real concert hall yesterday evening I thought of waiting for the first reviews. So I hope to read your expirience soon.

sincerly
